India Gate Delhi located in the heart of New Delhi, India, the India Gate is a war memorial that holds deep historical and symbolic significance. Standing prominently on Rajpath Avenue, this grand monument commemorates the soldiers of the British Indian Army who sacrificed their lives in battle. Its construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1931, designed by the renowned British architect Edwin Lutyens. The India Gate was originally built to honor the memory of the soldiers who perished in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. Nearly 70,000 Indian soldiers who fought under British command lost their lives, and approximately 13,300 names are inscribed on the walls of this memorial as an eternal tribute.
